Message from Doris Brothers, new Chief Editor of eForum

by  Doris Brothers

It pleases me no end to have taken over the editorial reins of eForum from the very capable hands of Kati Breckinridge. Under Kati's creative leadership, the name of the IAPSP newsletter was changed to eForum to reflect its transformation into a strictly on-line publication. I hope to move eForum even further along the path that Kati charted. For starters, eForum will no longer be put out in the form of a static once-a-year issue. Instead it will become a continually changing and responsively interactive on-line medium.

Fortunately, I will have lots of help as I try to make sure that eForum continues to meet the needs of IAPSP members. I've assembled a super team of regional editors. They are: Jane Lewis, East Coast Editor; Carol Mayhew, West Coast Editor; Anne Paris, Mid West Editor; and Annette Richard, International Editor. I am also lucky to be working with our talented new webmaster, Chris Powell.

In addition to the features that you already know (and hopefully love) on eForum such as summaries of the panels at the annual IAPSP conferences, and short, well-written, thoughtful articles, we plan some improvements and innovations. First of all, you will no longer have to wait for the next "issue" to post news flashes about your life and career to "Members Updates." Just send them to me at and I'll see that Chris adds them right away.

We are also planning to add a number of new features. One will be a "Members' Publications" list that will link published works to brief abstracts and on-line sites where books may be purchased. We are inaugurating a feature called "Institute News" which will post information about programs and events happening at members' training institutes. Another first for eForum will be the addition of a number of columns. Carla Leone has taken charge of one that will feature articles on couples, families, and groups. Carol Mayhew's column will post answers by member to the question: "What are you reading?" And, Jane Lewis and Annette Richard's are co-editing a column on international news.

And finally, thanks to Anne Paris, we now have a group page on Facebook: IAPSP eForum.
