There will be four plenary sessions during the conference.

PANEL 1 (Thursday, October 11, 1:00 PM - 3:15 PM)

Emergence and Specificity Theory & Therapeutic Efficacy

Presenters:
Robert M. Galatzer-Levy, MD & Howard A. Bacal, MD, FRCPC

Description:
This panel will analyze the Specificity Theory and the Therapeutic with a case presentation from Ms. Smith. Dr. Galatzer-Levy will present his paper on "Emergence" and Dr. Bacal will present his paper on "Specificity Theory and Therapeutic Process" as commentary on the case presentation.

PANEL 2 (Friday, October 12, 8:30 AM - 10:45 AM)

Complexity Theory and Self Psychology

Chair:
Jane C. Jordan, PsyD

Presenter:
William J. Coburn, PhD, PsyD

Case Presenters:
Joye E. Weisel-Barth, PhD, PsyD & Amy H. Eldridge, PhD

Discussant:
Estelle Shane, PhD

Description:
Dr. Coburn's paper, titled "Complexity Made Simple: Exploring A Nonlinear Dynamic Systems Theory," will discuss Complexity Theory and Self Psychology. Dr. Weisel-Barth and Dr. Eldridge will provide case studies to elaborate on the themes discussed in this panel.

PANEL 3 (Saturday, October 13, 8:30 AM - 10:45 AM)

Motivational Regulatory Systems

Chair:
Sandra G. Hershberg, MD

Case Presenter:
Hazel R. Ipp, PhD

Presenters:
Joseph D. Lichtenberg, MD and Frank M. Lachmann, PhD

Description:
Dr. Ipp will provide a case presentation elaborating the panel's theme of Motivational Regulatory Systems. While Dr. Lichtenberg will presenter his paper titled, "Motivational Systems," and Dr. Lachmann will present his paper titled, "Dyadic Systems."

PANEL 4 (Saturday, October 13, 1:00 PM - 3:15 PM)

Existential Views on Loss

Chair:
Jeffrey Trop, MD

Presenters:
Robert D. Stolorow, PhD & Malcolm O. Slavin, PhD

Discussant:
Peter A. Schou, PhD

Description:
Dr. Stolorow will present his paper titled, "The Contextuality and Existentiality of Emotional Trauma." Dr. Slavin will present his paper on "Meaning, Its Ongoing Creation and Loss: An Evolutionary Biological-Existential View."
